1. About this notice
GATHWAY INC. (“GATHWAY”, “we”, “us”), a Canadian corporation, operates The Insight Docket (“Platform”) at theinsightdocket.com. Contact: legal@gathway.app; privacy@gathway.app for privacy requests. Registered office: 230-7737 Lundy’s Lane, Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.
This Cookie Notice explains how The Insight Docket uses cookies and similar technologies, such as browser local storage, and the choices available to you. It supplements the Privacy Policy.
2. Our approach
We use strictly necessary technologies to operate the Platform. All other technologies — analytics, advertising and readership measurement for visitors who are not signed in — are optional and are used only after you opt in. Declining optional technologies does not affect your ability to read publicly available content. We apply this opt-in approach to visitors in every country, consistent with requirements such as Canadian federal and provincial privacy laws (including Quebec’s), the EU and UK data-protection and electronic-communications rules, and comparable laws elsewhere.
3. Strictly necessary technologies
These are required to provide services you request, keep the Platform secure and remember your privacy choices. They cannot be switched off in our preference controls. You can block them in your browser, but sign-in and some features will then not work.
- Authentication and session cookies (set through our authentication provider, Supabase, with names beginning “sb-”): keep you signed in and protect your session. They are set only when you sign in and last until you sign out or your session ends, for at most 400 days.
- Cookie-preference record: remembers your choices about optional technologies so that we do not ask again on every visit. Kept for 12 months, after which we ask again.
- Security and fraud-prevention signals: used to detect automated or abusive traffic. Where these rely on cookies or similar storage, they are used only for security and never for advertising.
4. Optional analytics
Analytics help us understand, in aggregate, how the Platform is used. No analytics technologies are currently in use. Before any are introduced, they will be listed in this notice with their provider, purpose and duration, and they will run only after you opt in.
5. Advertising technologies
Advertising technologies may be used to deliver and measure advertisements and to limit how often they are shown. No advertising technologies are currently in use. Before any are introduced, they will be listed in this notice and will run only after you opt in. Personalized advertising and advertising profiling are never used for registered readers aged 16 or 17.
6. Qualified-reader measurement
Contributors’ earnings eligibility depends on counting qualified unique readers of each publication (see the Monetization and Earnings Policy). Signed-in readers are counted through their accounts and no additional cookie is needed. For visitors who are not signed in, a first-party readership-measurement identifier is stored in the browser only if the visitor opts in. It is used only to count unique readers of each publication and to prevent duplicate counting and fraud, is never shared with advertisers and is kept for 13 months. If a measured visitor later signs in on the same browser, that browser’s earlier measurement is attributed to their account so that they are not counted twice.
If you decline, your visits while signed out are not counted towards qualified readership. We never use browser fingerprinting or any other technique to identify or count visitors who have declined.
7. Duration
Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies and stored identifiers remain for the periods stated above unless you delete them earlier or withdraw your consent.
8. Your choices and withdrawal of consent
When you first visit, you can accept or reject optional technologies, by category, with equally prominent choices. No optional technology runs before you choose. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through the “Cookie preferences” link at the foot of every page. Withdrawal stops future use, and we delete optional identifiers stored in your browser where technically possible; it does not affect use before the withdrawal. Where your browser sends a recognized opt-out preference signal, such as Global Privacy Control, we treat it as a refusal of optional advertising technologies. You can also delete or block cookies through your browser settings.
9. Changes and contact
We will update this notice before introducing any new optional technology and will ask for your consent again where required. Questions about this notice may be sent to privacy@gathway.app.
